Following graduation, Madeline worked as an Assistant State Attorney for Florida’s 14th Judicial Circuit. In that role, she successfully prosecuted a wide range of criminal cases, building extensive trial experience and developing a deep understanding of the strategies employed by law enforcement and prosecutors. This background provides her with a unique advantage in defending her clients.
After transitioning to criminal defense, Madeline worked closely with co-founder, Bill Gunter, forming a strong professional partnership grounded in shared values, a commitment to efficiency, and results. Together, they established their own practice, where they have successfully defended clients relying on each other’s individual strengths to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Originally from Montgomery, Alabama, Bill enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as an infantryman with TOW and Scout Platoons, 2nd Tank Battalion, from 2003 to 2007. He completed two combat deployments to Fallujah, Iraq, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant, an experience that shaped his discipline, integrity, and leadership under pressure.
In 2025 Bill Gunter & Madeline McClaran decided to join forces in launching their own criminal defense practice in Bay County. Working as a team, the two have successfully defended hundreds of clients throughout Northwest Florida.
